CBCSD STATEMENT OF FAITH
- The Authority of the Bible: We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the divine, final authority for all matters of Christian faith and life (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19).
- The Triunity of God: We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, who is infinitely perfect and eternally exists in three person: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God—equal in honor, glory, and power—and worthy of the same worship (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
- The Person and Work of Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ, both true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead. He ascended to heaven and now, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, serves as our High Priest and Advocate (Isaiah 53:5-6; John 1:1-2; Philippians 2:6-7; Hebrews 4:15).
- The Ministry of the Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and dwells within every believer. He guides, instructs, and empowers them for godly living and faithful service (John 3:3-8; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Ephesians 1:14).
- The Creation and Fall of Man: We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God but have fallen into sin and are in need of salvation. People enter the world spiritually separated from God, unable through their own efforts to restore this relationship or earn divine acceptance (Genesis 3:1-24; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3).
- The Way of Salvation: We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace alone. The shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the sole basis for our justification and salvation. All who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and become children of God (John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).
- The Nature and Organization of the Church: We believe that the church is the Body of Christ, with Christ as its head. The church is manifested in local congregations of born-again believers who are called together by God’s grace, united by His love, and organized under the teaching of Scripture. These local churches exist for worship, fellowship, and the evangelization of those who have not yet received salvation (Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:12-13; Ephesians 2:19-21, 4:11-12).
- The Second Coming of Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ will return to establish His eternal kingdom. At His coming, all people will be resurrected and judged—believers will receive eternal life, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God (Matthew 24:30-42; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:35-58; Revelation 20:11-15).
