“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet…” Really? I’m afraid I have to disagree with Shakespeare. I can’t imagine how it smells if we call a rose corpse a flower. Chinese people take their names very seriously. They put the family name first. And the given name represents the expectation from the family.
It is also true in the business world. For example, Ford spent millions of dollars researching the name Mustang for their new car in 1966. And it has been the most lasting and successful name of a vehicle.
Our church is called the Chinese Bible Church. What does it mean, and what is the expectation from its members? The Bible is always the best-selling book, but not necessarily the most read, let alone the most understood. Do you read the Bible frequently? Do you know what you read? How does the Bible affect your life? If you have questions about the Bible, but are afraid to ask, have no fear, the answers are near.
The long-anticipated retreat is coming on Jan. 28-30, 2022.The theme is “How to Know the Bible”. The topics are: How to Read the Bible, How to Study the Bible, How to Interpret the Bible, and How We Shall Call God.
I pray that God would grant us an opportunity to come and learn more about the Bible, and find ways to connect with God. Please sign up early to make it easier for administration. I am looking forward to exploring Biblical knowledge, and enjoying fellowship with you soon.
